The midwife is available to provide help and advice throughout pregnancy. She sees all pregnant mums regularly during their pregnancies, both at antenatal clinics and also at Parentcraft courses; she will subsequently follow up after birth with visits at home.
Trying for Pregnancy? - Our midwife is available for counselling advice.
The District Nurses are highly qualified nurses who have undergone further extensive training to enable them to specialise in providing high quality care to patients in the Community.
Home visits are made at the discretion of the District Nurse and are usually only made to patients who are unable to get out of the house, or have been assessed by the District Nurse as having a physical and/or medical problem which prevents them from attending the surgery.
The District Nurses also hold wound clinics and 'doppler' clinics.
Health visitors are qualified nurses who have had extra training to work in the community, helping people to avoid illness and stay healthy. One of their main jobs is helping to make sure children have a good start in life, so they help parents to prepare for the birth and visit afterwards offering advice and information about feeding, safety and child development. They can also offer help to those with disabilities or mobility problems. They are available at the Baby Clinics or you can contact them directly.
