When you are requested to attend the surgery for future appointments we kindly request that patients attend their appointment alone wherever possible, and that you wear a face covering (mask, or scarf for example) at all times. This is for the protection of both staff and patients. If you have any symptoms of Coronavirus you must not attend your appointment.
Due to the worsening coronavirus pandemic and following government guidance, we are suspending all routine appointments. We will be managing urgent and emergency patients only.
ALL DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS WILL BE TRIAGED BEFORE ANY FACE TO FACE CONSULTATIONS AS THESE WILL BE LIMITED TO AVOID SPREADING THE VIRUS.

YOU MUST NOW ISOLATE TO REDUCE THE CHANCE OF SPREADING THE INFECTION IN LINE WITH NHS AND GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE.
If you consider your symptoms an emergency, you will be offered a telephone consultation after speaking with a receptionist. If you have been in contact with someone who has had a recent foreign travel, or with a confirmed case of coronavirus, you MUST NOT COME TO SURGERY. Things not being actioned are routine 24hr blood pressure, ear syringing. Etc
PRESCRIPTIONS - 48 HOURS NOTICE WILL BE ADHERED TO DUE TO LARGE VOLUMES OF PRESCRIPTIONS BEING REQUESTED.
- Paper requests for repeat prescriptions are not been accepted, again to avoid the spread of the virus.

Remember to use the hand sanitiser provided when entering the building. Please remain courteous to our staff at all times. Any incidents of verbal or physical abuse will result in a zero tolerance warning being issued.
We understand it’s frustrating and confusing for people but please bear in mind that it’s also frustrating and confusing for NHS staff as well due to guidelines constantly changing. SEASONAL INFLUENZA VACCINATIONS
WE NOW HAVE THE SEASONAL INFLUENZA VACCINATIONS IN THE SURGERY FOR THE 65 & OVER`S AND THE 16 TO 65 AT RISK GROUP. THESE ARE BOOKED ON AN APPOINTMENT BASIS ONLY, PLEASE CONTACT THE SURGERY TO BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH THE NURSE ASAP.
WE ALSO HAVE THE NASAL SPRAY FOR THE FLU SEASON FOR CHILDREN AGED 2 & 3 YEARS OR AT RISK CHILDREN UP TO 16 YEARS.

On the 31st August 2020 Dr Krishnasamy resigned from his post here at Royston Group Practice. We would all like to wish him well for the future.

My Best Life
Are you lonely, socially isolated, struggling with housing or money problems and do not know where to turn. The 'My Best Life' service may be able to help. My best life was started in April 2017. The two major benefits for people referred to the My Best Life service will be an improvement in their health, wellbeing and quality of life and a reduction in social isolation, exclusion and loneliness; with a special focus on improving mental health and wellbeing, the scheme will enable people to manage their own health, improve social networks and develop their self-confidence.

Introducing our International New GP
We are now working closely with NHS England in recruiting an International Gp, this is to help with capacity & demand to encourage new Gp`s to work in GP practice.
We are pleased to announce that we now have an International Female GP, Dr Samantha, she will be shadowing the Partners working at the practice.
Royston Group Practice from time to time has medical students working at the GP surgery for up to 8 weeks at a time. Please let reception know if you do not want the student present at your appointment.
Helen Wyatt has now left our practice, Antonia Hudson is now the current Practice Manager and Ann Youngs is our new Assistant Practice Manager.
Our two new receptionists Katie Belshaw & Samantha Jackson.

Conditions for which Prescribing is Restricted
At the end of May 2018, NHS England announced that certain medications would no longer be routinely available on prescription. A full list of the conditions this affects is given below:

- Cradle Cap (Seborrhoeic dermatitis – infants)
- Infant Colic
- Mild Cystitis
- Mild Irritant Dermatitis
- Diarrhoea (Adults)
- Dry Eyes/Sore (tired) Eyes
- Excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis)
- Head Lice
- Indigestion and Heartburn
- Infrequent Constipation
- Infrequent Migraine
- Insect bites and stings
- Mild Acne
- Mild Dry Skin
- Sun Protection
- Mild to Moderate Hay fever/Seasonal Rhinitis
- Minor burns and scalds
- Minor conditions associated with pain, discomfort and/fever. (e.g. aches and sprains, headache, period pain, back pain)

Staff Training Closures
We are closed on the following dates for staff training:
- Wednesday 19th of June from 12pm
- Wednesday 17th of July from 12pm
- Wednesday 4th of September from 12pm
- Wednesday 18th of September from 12pm
- Wednesday 16th of October from 12pm
- Wednesday 20th of November from 12pm
- Wednesday 11th of December from 12pm
Also there will be no Doctors on site from 12pm on Thursday the 7th of June.
The next meeting for the Patient Reference Group meeting will be held on 21.2.2020.

Saturday surgery times
We have appointments for our patients on Saturday mornings between 8.30am - 12.30pm which will all be pre bookable. Patients who are unable to get an appointment on a Saturday are advised to contact iHeart Barnsley on 01226 242429.
Named Accountable GP
All patients will have a named accountable GP who will be responsible for patients' overall care at the practice. This does not stop you from seeing any other GP or Nurse Practitioner in the practice. Where a patient wishes to see a particular GP, they may have to wait longer to see their preferred practitioner. We will inform patients of their accountable GP opportunistically when patients contact the surgery. If you wish to know who your named accountable GP is, please contact the practice on 01226 700400.
